Bhoomi ...

We had this Bengali Band called BHOOMI performing on 28th August in Kali Bari (A Kali Temple..) as a part of their Deity Installation Day celebrations..

Initially I was slightly apprehensive about going because I have this bengali-songs-have-to-be-boring thing in my head, but ultimately I did go and I must say I really enjoyed myself..

The lead singer (and also the drummer) had a beautiful voice and there was also this other guy with long hair who sang and played I dont know how many instruments. I loved the earthy elements in every song(as the name of the band says) some of the songs really gave me that eastern hill station feeling...,the chorus made it feel like I am listening to a record. The effect was magical....

The first five-six songs were average but in the last few songs the crowd went crazy dancing,clapping,howling(including me) they sang some very famous songs , very pacy and some songs really took out the Bong in me. I felt really close to my culture after a long time...

"Tomar dekha nai re","meneka pore che aaj ghoongta" and some others were SO SO good. Very enthralling performances and overall BHOOMI totally rocked !!!

Chotu's birthday

Sirisha celebrated her birthday on 16th and 17th .... (i still don understand the logic)...

We gals starved (for a stupid reason..!!!) but it was soooo much fun. Nair, you missed it dude!! and the cake was from VACS( do I need to get more descriptive :D). and I m posting just for the pics.. here it goes..

they say DIET is "die" with a "T"....and they are right...

A person who could have a 2kg chocolate (or any flavour) cake all by herself....
A person who could have 5 people's plates together and then puke and get ready for another meal.....
A person who gave a DAMN about calories ....
A person who could have two packets of hide and seek for supper....

and this person was asked to diet.... No prizes for guessing, this person is I,me,myself...

Its called extravagant expectation..*laughs*
There was a point of time (pretty recently..) when I thought, "why the hell should I deprive myself of good food?","why should I control my lust (for food) just to look like one of those females in leggings and a skin tight top with hay in the head ?"
but when I wore my favourite white shirt after almost two months and it was loose ...the high was different... yes, gymming did something for me...

I understood that losing weight is a serious business, almost like meditation,requires insane discipline, sense of MODERATION, and a lot of will.....

but somehow I love myself more than before and I m very comfortable about how I look and what I am. I do not feel guilty of my very frequent tendencies of gluttony because the more I deprive myself of something the more I over-indulge. So I have decided to make some amendments to my diet and keep calling myself a foodie :-)

The poem was written as a part of an advertisement for Frankfinn Institute , but it just pierced through my heart so I want to share it.

then one day a strange thing happened no one was at home and I was with the mirror

The first time I saw JAANE TU YA JAANE NA with my college gang I remember being extremely excited and curious....

Reason 1) Mu ha ha No prizes for guessing....Imran Khan

Reason 2) Kabhi Kabhi Aditi.....(remember it was in the background for quite some time) amazing track!

Reason 3) I predicted it would be another mushy-mushy love story...( I love watching them..)

Reason 4) this one's the most important reason.... I wanted to break the record of not watching any movie after Jodha Akbar.

About the movie :
The first half is like you-blink-and-there's-a-song kind ! cat dies, there's a song...farewell party....another song....picnic ...one more song.....phew! The narration is loose and some really silly events just left me with should-i-laugh-or-should-I-cry emotion! I mean , can you ever think of suddenly kissing one of the friends from your gang and fall in love with him/her just because you are single? eew man...ridiculous!!!

Imran essentially holds the movie with his honest and very convincing performance.Genelia looks good in the movie but acting.....NAHIIIIIIII.....she struggled with hindi and honestly her acting dint touch any corner of my heart..!

The climax is in pakka Bollywood ishtyle....in the airport ofcourse.....with the cops running behind apna hero (and calling him a terrorist..lol) who is running behind apni heroine and singing the special song for her ..(oops! crying not singing..) Its just hilarious..

Style check :
*loved the variety of clips genelia wore throughout the movie...(i have started to wear them already)..her sense of dressing is very trendy,chick and feminine (loved those dresses man!).
*And this girl (who's name is shalu in the movie) dressed so well...the harem pants,fringes,exciting tops,bandanas.... a complete street chic...awesome!



Now, I want to be generous and tell you five reasons why you should watch the movie..

1) Imran Khan..(yea yea!)



2) For the mind-blowing performances of Ratna Pathak shah, Naseeruddin Shah,Paresh Rawal(he rocked as always...),Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan...they were the highlights of the movie!!


3)For the unique presentation of the movie..

4) For some TODU music....A.R Rahman is a magician..truly,

and finally
5) for laughing your ass off (after the intermission i.e)

My rating: 2.75/5
Overall experience : Mungfalli timepass!! worth watching ONLY once.

A Crazy Reunion...!

Ok! I read this amazing blog of this guy called Hriday Ram Shenoy(courtesy Dinesh..) and After I read one post....my mouth widened in awe(wider than what it is when I have a burger! ) and since then I've been racking my brain to think of something totally "out-of-the-box" for my blog...but then see! I end up writing another random post ...

Last weekend was pretty much "rona-dhona"kind...(for me atlleast) coz Apurva left for Banglore and yeah! Manu's visit just increased the "senti"meter! and this time I couldnt help giving him a bear hug before he left ... I love you Manu! ( Dukhi aatma dont kick my ass for this!!)

And well, I watched Jaane Tu...again in PVR...and I was bored and I wanted to sleep (but it was really cold in the A.C!).. The review is ready but I dunno whether I should post it! Well, lessee...

My honey plum cuppy cake!

The fact that apurva's family is shifting base to Mumbai has not sunk into me as yet !

But today ,when I closed the door of my room and sat for my routine "me-time" .... there were scenes from the past flashing in my head.The day apurva was leaving for Banglore I wept like a kid and hugged her saying,"I CAN'T live without you." I cried for a long time in the evening too... I also saw the time when we would talk for hours together after school...the time TAMPERZ were together .. each time I confided in her(sometimes broke down!) and as far as I go into the flashback ,she was always there (for the great and the not-so-great moments). I may sound really syrupy and sentimental but the truth is ..this is the only way I feel better about our friendship which has emerged stronger after she stayed away from me! I value her even more now and will always do...

She is leaving the city on the 20th and I know its gonna be really difficult to bid adieu to her without being sure about when i'll see her next...! (ok! i m not crying now!) I m gonna miss this mixture of -pain in the neck, agony aunt, pink obssessed, 2 year old and an eternal soulmate...*sobs*

This post is dedicated to my very special friend DINESH.

Initially I think I was really amazed by the fact that we share SO much in common. We bonded like we know each other from ages.

Sometimes we dont need any explanations to understand each other.We speak in silence, read each other's mind, discuss our lows and highs with all respect to each other's emotions .We speak to each other like we have so much to say.The vibes are so beautiful, really.The coincidences, the telepathy, all of it just seem to tell me that this one is going to be a deep friendship.

This reminds me of what my friend Karthika told me once ..

"It doesn't take a lifetime to know a person."

I think this friendship is one of its kind and the craziest thing is we havent met each other after we've become such wonderful friends and I hope I meet him soon , get to know him more and soon call him my second best friend.(Now dont ask me who's the first one )

The splendid weekend!!

SATURDAY, 5th JULY

Well, it was a very special day. My parents celebrated 21 years of togetherness! and I was more excited than them (obviously because I would get a treat!).. I tried my best to act as a catalyst for their chemical reaction(read chemistry) but I realised that the definition of romance changes with age! I got them roses while coming from college and yeah! yesterday was the first time I took my dio to college .. man! it felt soo good driving in the morning ! that high cannot be described, believe me. OK I was talking about my parents right! yeah ! so we went for a loooonngg drive and got some chinese food home from this reataurant our family friends recommended us.. and it was pathetic! but that didnt spoil our mood!

and how did I forget this, I got a new hairdo..yea ! its kinda good but not as good as I expected ! here are some pics

SUNDAY , 6th JULY

St.Francis College is celebrating its GOLDEN JUBILEE this year (Isnt that great?) and the first major event was today's 7K marathon. The event started at about 6:00 am and there were some celebrities to give us some oomph factor !! Venkatesh was sooo smart man! he doesnt look like he has a daughter persuing graduation(well ahem !! from our college...) I was like FIDA on him !!! also joining him were V.V.S Laxman, pullela gopichand and some telugu actors who are less known to me!!

and when the run was Flagged off , my my !what a weather it was !!! francis spirit was in the air and we ran almost 5-6 kms shouting "Franciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis-francis"(the extra i's are for the sound effect !) I think I am a proud student of Francis and I am feeling soo lucky to be a part of such a spectacular event! It was an experience of a lifetime ! I guess you can make out how excited I am, so please ignore my haphazard punctutations and bad grammar :-)

I dont think I can describe everything in words! some pics will give you an idea of the "halla-gulla" we had today!!

TV5 Monde has just managed to keep me hooked( For your information TV5 Monde is French TV channel) and I am NOT able to control my excitement after I started watching it from yesterday. Saw this movie called Après lui (After him) and I just loved it... It was intense , aesthetic and so appealing especially because I love the French language so much ! I loved the accent and even picked up some nice phrases :-)

I loved the character of Camille (played by Catherine Deneuve) because of her powerful potrayal of a mother battling the death of her son in a car accident. The sheer simplicity of the narration made it so appealing .Its an ordinary story which is shown in such an extraordinary way. The camera work, the background score and the two protagonists hold the film from beginning to end, not to forget the direction. All in all a perfect movie for the ones who admire french culture (like me) and people who have a good taste for world cinema.

I would love to believe the former machine though ! hehe

Resolutions : * Increasing the time on treadmill ( It gets me tired very easily!)
*two cheat days in a month (the binge days...wohoo!)
*discipline with food (its going topsy-turvy after the college has reopened)
*A complete hour in the gym .
*Salads, salads and more salads !

I will hopefully look fitter before my birthday...wish me luck ! *sighs*

I just finished reading another book by Paulo Coelho called Brida.........

Often I ended up comparing it with The Alchemist which I think is pretty unfair now.

There's nothing in common between them except the Author...but having said that I can't deny that the book has the typical Paulo feel to it. It talks of magic,witchcraft,trance, incarnation and the likes. I think it was a different journey altogether and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though the storyline is very unusual yet there were many instances I could relate to (Thats Paulo's forte).

Now, I think I should read some other authors too (Yes reading is pretty addictive..)

Among other things I was thinking about this childhood friend(who claims to be a great friend now) who used to bully me as a kid. I was really vulnerable back then and didnt know how to give it back to her. I think I'll definitely teach that to my kids , how not to be a victim of bullying and give it hard on their face ! Or I guess that the next generation will be much smarter..*smiles*

I can notice the slow transformation I am undergoing, but then I have to keep my emotions in check and learn to calm down. My heart gets agitated so soon that it actually tests my ability to be patient. I have to pray for my progress in each section of my life and raise my self esteem...
